Junkshop Coyote - Anorak Bubblebutt (Selected I-Am-Bent Works, Vol. 2)

HEMP052 - New release

Junkshop Coyote's second compilation of odds and ends created between 1991 and 2009, focusing mainly on the V/Vm-inspired plunderphonics that became his calling card in the Digital Vomit collective.

Distance - Cyprus Memories

HEMP051 - new release

A "lost album" of sorts, made last year and only just rediscovered in a forgotten nook of the artist's computer. Musical landscapers Distance continue to evolve slowly and subtly. A sublimely relaxing travelogue, with elements of world music and a newfound sonic crispness - one can almost touch the grit in Distance's trademark spoken-word murk, which is even more tauntingly just out of comprehension's reach.

Thee Crumb - Hic Sunt Dracones

HEMP050 - new release

Suppose 1990's IDM hadn't been shouted down by its smart-aleck kid brother, breakcore. Suppose rhythm was just another signpost on a trip deeper into texture. Suppose electronic music was like nature: its complexity just existed, free from the need to be admired, paradoxically becoming that much more admirable.

It might sound like this.

Here be dragons.

My Boy Is Dead - Demos 2000-2005

DVR025 - new release from Digital Vomit

My Boy Is Dead was a project of which Solypsis was, and is, one half. They recently ended their 3-year hiatus, but while we wait for fresh material, here is a selection of tracks from their first run. Dirty beats, filthy synths and defiantly unhip movie samples. What's not to like?

Various Artists - Acid Vomit

DVR027 - new release

Another Digital Vomit release hosted by Hallo Excentrico!, in which members of the collective created acid-house tracks under cover of one-off pseudonyms. Let's party like it's 1985.

Solypsis - Epilogue, Vol. 1

HE! Extra - released by Eardose

James Miller says this is his final release as Solypsis, ever, and this time he means it (Vol. 1?). Future output will be under a different name to be determined later. (I do plan to issue further, now-"posthumous," compilations from the massive DVD-ROM Purge, and James has authorized this.)

So. It's a nice way to wrap things up, incorporating all the disparate bits of the story so far. There's the dark melodicism of, say, the Cyan Album, a dash of the uncompromising noise of The WLNT Sessions, and the masterful use of tension and release exhibited in One Week Without the Internet, all together in a coherent, mature, well-produced whole.

I can't wait to see what's next.
